Question?... What does August 1982 Playmate Cathy St.George and the first album by "Duran Duran" have in common. I'm guessing that from the confused look on your face, I might as well have asked you what the shelf-life of Plutonium is. Since this IS an art site and Regis Philbin isn't available to answer the last couple of questions... let me tell you. No, Cathy wasn't the girl in the 'Hungry like the Wolf' video, but she did model for Patrick Nagel who was responsible for the cover art of their first LP. I don't know what's worse for showing my age, the fact that I know who Duran Duran are or that I know what an album is. The truth is, that anyone knowledgeable in the art of pin-up knows who Patrick Nagel was. There was an attraction to his style that was undeniable. Even for those who were uneducated in the field of pin-up and the female art market, there was a mass appeal for his work.I can
remember years ago, walking into a friends apartment. A person I would have never figured for an art lover, and seeing two Nagel lithographs hanging on his wall. Unfortunately there was a bullfighter on black velvet sandwiched in between them. When I inquired into his preference of these two obviously
conflicting styles, he indicated to me that he had not yet decided which one went better with his couch. This was just one of the many culturally enlightening moments in my life when I questioned my decision not to seek fame and fortune in the growing field of heating and air conditioning. As an artist, I've always thought that the best way to appreciate another artists
style was not to imitate it. So, to all my ex-girlfriends from the 80's who have Nagel-esque paintings I did of them still hanging in their apartments,Whoops! But to all my future ex-girlfriends... Even though there is no compatibility in styles. "INDEPENDENT DESCENT" allows me to have something in common with Patrick Nagel. And it's not Duran Duran.

Like a fine wine, this petite Playmate from 1982 keeps getting bette rwith age. She's an artist herself and when not in front of the camera. Cathy has worked as a make up artist for such clients as Halle Berry, Cindy Crawford,
Wayne Gretsky and Carlos Santana as well as many other talented artists. Cathy loves doing comedy and recently had a part on the new series for Comedy Central "The Sweet Spot".
"I play a sexy golf babe being taught the game by none other than Bill Murray and the rest of the Murray clan. Let's just say they really know how to perfect a girl's swing".
