Nobody's Perfect...even artists. I’d like to think that every time I sit down to start a new painting, this one will be better than the last. It’s just natural progression...an order of self-competitiveness that makes us strive to constantly better ourselves. As much as I’d like to believe in such lofty principles, it doesn’t always happen. That’s right, I’m an artist...I’m not infallible. It’s my god given right to produce a real clunker once in awhile. Who can say what happens. Low kharma...Bad hair day,
even the switch to decaffeinated coffee. After all, I’m not a machine, I’m just a man DAMMIT! Leaning against the wall in my studio is a half-finished painting of Playmate Elke Jeinsen. The proud product of my creative meltdown. A painting I started last summer and will never finish. It’s my fault, I admit it, this painting was doomed from the start. So instead of fighting it,
I cut my losses and moved on. And that’s when the best in all of us comes out, when you conquer...persevere. Like Bob Dole on Viagra, I overcame. And that end result was “BULLSEYE”. I don’t think I’ll ever finish that first painting, even for peace of mind or self-preservation. That first painting would be best served by cutting it up into little squares and shimming up the wobbly leg on my coffee table. I feel rejuvenated.
