The
Bone Collector
25" x 32" Acrylic on Board
There's one thing I tend to forget about the term 'Good Intentions'...
the GOOD part. About a year and a half ago I was preparing to do a shoot
with Dazza Del Rio at her home in Los Angeles, reference photos for a
couple of
upcoming paintings that I had in mind. My intentions were sound and everything
was in place. We were pool side...she was wearing a tiny lime green bikini...
you get the picture. At the same time the sun disappeared behind the rain
clouds, and I started to snap away, I should have realized that my intentions
were not so sound back in art school when I decided to blow off photography
class for breakfast and a couple of cigarettes. This became wildly evident
when I picked up my shots from the lab. I was expecting ART!. Oh, I got
art alright. If you consider 100 pictures of what looked like a camel
traveling at 700 miles per hour across the desert... in a sandstorm...
at night, ART! Can anyone say 'Aperture?, Shutter Speed'
Fortunately Dazza felt my pain and dragged out a boxful of pics from old
photo shoots. I came across a black and white contact sheet with poses
on it that she had done on top of a limestone mine in Peru. I was so enamored
over the one shot that I waited a year and a half until I felt the time
was right to do this painting. 3 weeks later..."The
Bone Collector" My first real step towards a more Fantasy
oriented, "Heavy Metal" style of pin-up art. I think I'll consider
this the make-up assignment for blowing off that class years ago. Now
that's good intentions.
Model
- Dazza Del Rio
LI usually reserve this space for the models resume. With Dazza, I wouldn't
know where to begin. Pin-up and calendar model, national spokesmodel,
actress and one of the top draws on the custom car show circuit. She IS
the original Latino doll. I knew I found something special the minute
I met Dazza. Combining an incredibly exotic look with an unmatched sense
of humor, she is everything an artist looks for in a model and much more.
I look forward to a continuing relationship with Dazza as a model... and
a friend.
I think Bart Simpson said it best.....
